Sturgeon Bay School District provides education to students ages 3-21 eligible under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) through a continuum of district services and supports. Specialized instruction and support occurs in all school environments. Instructional need and location decisions are made based upon individual student strengths and areas of need during Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings with parents and educators.
We are committed to providing individualized programming options to students in our schools. Our vision is that students are provided the most inclusive learning environment so that they become independent, confident self-advocates who learn through experiences that promote successful post-school outcomes. Please reach out to the special education team with any questions.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website provides a number of resources related to special education, including eligibility criteria, referral information, links to external resources, and information about the rights of children and parents.
